hi, I'm larkyn!
The eyes and paws behind the camera.
Photography has always been more than just a hobby for me; It’s how I capture moments in time, document life’s stories, and preserve memories in a way that feels both meaningful and beautiful. Whether it’s the quiet stillness of a landscape at dawn, the joy of a family just being themselves, or the vastness of the night sky, I love how photography lets me freeze moments that we might otherwise lose.
I’ve spent over a decade working in aviation, an industry that has shaped how I see the world; Always moving, always changing, with fleeting moments that deserve to be captured. That passion for movement and perspective naturally led me to aerial photography, and as a Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot, I love exploring new angles and perspectives that most people don’t get to see.
I’m also a software developer, and I’ve always been drawn to the balance between creativity and technical precision. Whether it’s writing code or composing a shot, I love the challenge of blending art and technology to tell a story.
photography isn’t just about taking pictures;
it’s about documenting life, finding beauty in the ordinary, and giving moments a sense of permanence.

passion for photography
From a young age, I was captivated by the power of photography—not just as an art form, but as a profound means of documenting the world around me. This passion led me to explore various facets of photography, from capturing candid family moments to the serene beauty of landscapes. Over the years I've honed my skills both in experience and formal training through the photography arts program at San Diego City College earning certificates in portrait, event, and aerial photography.

environmental research in siberia & tahoe
As part of the Tahoe-Baikal Institute (a 501c3 focused on environmental conservation and education), I traveled to the largest freshwater lake in the world, Lake Baikal in Russia, to research oligotrophic limnology with a team of students from around the world. Immersed in the study of this ancient and pristine lake, I gained insights into its unique ecological dynamics and the broader implications for freshwater conservation worldwide. This research deepened my appreciation for the intricate balance of aquatic ecosystems.

aerial photography
As part of my interest in photography and aviation, I started using drones to capture scenes from angles and locations otherwise inaccessible. As part of this pursuit I became an FAA certified remote pilot to remain compliant with Part 107 and to operate drones I pilot safely in compliance with both local and federal regulations.
